First-Ever MedicAlert® Wrist Watch Launched in Canada
A new safeguard for health protection during a medical emergency
Toronto, November 2, 2005 – Canadian MedicAlert Foundation (CMAF) announced today the launch of a new MedicAlert wrist watch to help protect the lives of people living with chronic medical conditions, allergies or other special needs.
“Members can expect the same kind of protection from the MedicAlert watch that they have always received from our traditional products, such as bracelets or necklaces.” said Martin Kabat, President and CEO of the Foundation. “Like the bracelet, the watch will have the member's most vital medical information engraved on it and easily accessible to medical professionals.”
Canada is the first country to introduce the MedicAlert watch. CMAF worked with Citizen Watch Company to design the new product for its members. The new MedicAlert watch, similar to all MedicAlert products, provides 24-hour protection through the MedicAlert Emergency Hotline. The MedicAlert emblem is clearly reflected on the face of the watch and the easy to flip over back is engraved with personalized medical information, member ID and the Emergency Hotline number.
“This is a very special product and one that our members specifically requested,” said Kabat. “It not only introduces a bit of variety to the MedicAlert product line, it also offers an alternative to those members who are reluctant to wear additional jewelry.”
MedicAlert is Canada's largest member-based, charity organization dedicated to providing services that protect and save lives. As a trusted healthcare partner, our members rely on MedicAlert to provide critical medical information between them and emergency responders 24 hours a day.
For more than forty years, over one million Canadians have chosen MedicAlert to provide them with protection and peace of mind in case of a medical emergency. Whenever you see the MedicAlert emblem, you can count on MedicAlert to help emergency medical personnel to respond with appropriate and timely treatment.
The services provided by MedicAlert are also recognized by the Canadian healthcare community. Canadian MedicAlert Foundation is endorsed by CAEP (Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians) and NENA (National Emergency Nurses Affiliation), and works in partnership with a Canada-wide network of health organizations, hospitals, pharmacies, doctors' offices, medical clinics and public health centres.
