TORONTO, April 21, 2008 – The Board of Directors of Canadian MedicAlert Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Ridge to the position of President and CEO, and Mr. Barry Kuntz as Chair, Board of Directors.
Since joining MedicAlert in 2001, and most recently as Vice President, Robert has worked broadly within the organization to ensure that MedicAlert members receive the highest quality personal health information services available in Canada. Robert holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and has diverse senior management experience spanning the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors in the fields of health, entertainment, and heavy construction.
Barry Kuntz has been an active participant of the MedicAlert Board for the past 6 years, and a supporter of a number of charitable organizations. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Administration degree. Barry's thirty-year career with General Motors of Canada has included executive experience in sales, service, marketing and public affairs.

The $5 million Federal Government grant awarded to MedicAlert for the No Child Without® Program, provides free MedicAlert coverage to elementary school children across Canada with pre-existing medical conditions. Mr. Ridge’s leadership of the organization, including this important charitable program, will be pivotal in ensuring that all MedicAlert members will have access to the highest quality personal health information services available in Canada.
Established in 1961 as a national, member-based charity, MedicAlert protects the lives of more than one million Canadians with health conditions or special medical needs.
