For Health Care Professionals
In an emergency, time and accuracy are of the essence. MedicAlert services can help speed assessment in an emergency, by providing emergency medical staff with access to a member's medical record through our 24 hour emergency hotline.
How it Works
- In an emergency, check for a MedicAlert ID on the patient's wrist (bracelet) or around the neck (necklace) - medical information is engraved on the back of the ID.
- Check the patient's wallet or purse for their MedicAlert membership card for additional medical information.
- Call the 24 hour hotline (phone number is provided on the back of the ID) and identify yourself to the emergency hotline representative.
- Provide the emergency hotline representative with the member's MedicAlert membership number at the bottom of the ID
- The Hotline representative will verify your caller identification and the member's medical information will be relayed.
- The medical information you access has been verified by a team of MedicAlert medical editors for accuracy and use of the highest standards in internationally recognized medical terminology.
- Members' confidential medical records are stored in a secure database that complies with current standards.
