Simply stunning! We're in love with designer Claude Abittan's elevated version of his beautiful Comfort bracelet. Not only has the designer created a rich and textured bracelet design, he's introduced gold vermeil into the mix. Vermeil is an ancient Incan art where sterling silver is coated with gold – 14k gold in this case. In Incan culture gold symbolizes the worship of the Sun God, whose representative on Earth is the Emperor. Gold is often worked with silver, which symbolizes the moon. So vermeil is a meeting between the moon and the sun – not unlike like the meeting between Claude Abittan Designs and MedicAlert! This product does not contain any nickel and is suitable for individuals who have metal allergies. We recommend removing this product before showering or coming into contact with water in order to preserve the leather.

What is gold vermeil?

Gold vermeil has some key elements that make it distinctive and superior to gold plating. Vermeil is a technique originating in the 19th century, where gold is applied to sterling silver. Gold vermeil is made in a similar style to gold plating but requires a thicker layer of gold. The gold layer must be above 2.5 microns, creating a finish that is five times thicker than average gold plating, and far more durable.

Toronto-based designer Claude Abittan wants you to wear your MedicAlert ID with pride. His designs are a mix of his Moroccan heritage and European esthetic with the love of his adopted county of Canada.

Yes, gold vermeil is real gold. At MedicAlert we use the highest percentage of gold alloy that can be used to make jewelry, 14 carats.

How to clean gold vermeil jewelry

Cleaning gold jewelry is easy to do at home. We recommend using a gentle polishing cloth on your gold vermeil pieces, ensuring it is clean and dry. Simply rub your piece in one direction, wiping away any dirt.

How long does gold vermeil last?

Due to its thicker gold layer, gold vermeil is a durable option for jewelry pieces. Taking proper care of your favourite pieces, like necklaces and bracelets, will ensure your pieces stand the test of time. There are numerous ways to care for your jewelry, from keeping it clean, to keeping it away from liquids, and even storing it in its own pouch rather than thrown in with other pieces.

Warranty

Products, excluding Precious Metals Products, come with a 60-day warranty beginning on the date the Subscriber purchases the Product. Precious Metals Products, come with a 1-year warranty beginning on the date the Subscriber purchases them. Precious Metals Products means a MedicAlert ID manufactured from Sterling Silver, Copper, Gold and Pearls and Beads with Sterling Silver Emblem.

Subscribers are responsible for paying the shipping costs to return the product to MedicAlert.

Please review the purchased items carefully for any defects or errors and report them to us within 10 days. Warranty shall be void if the products have been repaired by anyone other than our skilled jewelry team.

Warranty does not cover the following:

Damage resulting from normal wear and tear, accidental damage or breakage, misuse or alteration
Tarnishing or scratching of the emblem, chain and attachments
Leather blemishes naturally found on leather products
Loss of any kind
Watch batteries

Resizing

We offer 1 free resizing on bracelet chains that are available in multiple sizes within 30 days from the date of shipment, some exceptions apply. After 30 days, a resizing fee will apply and subscribers are responsible for shipping the product to MedicAlert for resizing.

Return Policy

Customized engraving of medical information on the emblem prevent MedicAlert from offering any refunds on identification products.

MedicAlert products are custom manufactured and can take between 2 to 8 weeks to manufacture depending on the product.

Expedited shipping - 2-3 business days (does not include manufacturing time)
