Primary Objectives:

Reporting to the CEO, the Director, Marketing and Communications plays a key role in leading marketing and communication efforts to support the growth, revenue generation and brand management for MedicAlert. As a member of the leadership team, you will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in brand management, omnichannel marketing and a solid understanding of how corporate communications intersects with the marketing function. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, have a bias to action, be solution driven and willing to question current processes and take ownership of their responsibilities. 

This role will achieve success through leading the Marketing and communications team in the development and implementation of subscriber acquisition, engagement and retention programs, mission program marketing, product sales and promotion, fundraising communications and corporate communications and public relations strategy. The incumbent will also develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring that all activities are executed to the highest possible quality standards, on time and on budget.  

Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Lead and mentor a team of marketing, content and communications professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity and innovation while supporting professional development and career growth for the team. 
  • Ensure the marketing team structure is optimized to achieve the business goals and mission of the organization 
  • Develop and implement a cohesive omnichannel marketing and communications strategy that aligns with the organization's growth targets and overall business objectives  
  • Oversee current service and product offerings and participate in identifying, researching and developing business cases for new products and services to add to the organization’s product and service mix 
  • Manage targeted campaigns, content, and lead nurture programs to engage prospects throughout the customer journey. 
  • Lead the marketing and communications team in maximizing the use of the organization’s marketing tech stack to develop, execute and measure multi-channel marketing plans and campaigns. 
  • Oversee and approve creative development of promotional materials, website content, advertisements, and other marketing-related collateral 
  • Develop and analyze reports on website and campaign performance using various analytics tools (i.e. Google analytics and AdWords, Facebook Insights etc.); lead and project manage any approved initiatives to continuously optimize performance. 
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in demand generation, digital marketing, and D2C/B2B/Account-based marketing practices to continually innovate and enhance our marketing efforts. 
  • Manage all external agencies.  
  • Track marketing and communications data and create detailed written reports and verbal presentations to bring to the executive team and the Board of Directors. 
  • Other projects or accountabilities as assigned on an ad hoc basis.  

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent in marketing or a university degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field 
  • Demonstrated experience in the following areas:
    • Omnichannel marketing strategy development and implementation 
    • Content management strategy development implementation 
    • Digital campaign strategy development and implementation 
    • Communication  strategy development and implementation 
    • Public Relations planning and execution 
  • Prior experience in market research 
  • Demonstrated project management skills 
  • Demonstrated budget development and management skills 
  • Prior experience in creative direction considered an asset 
  • Exceptional content creation skills 
  • Demonstrated team mentorship skills 
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills 
  • Highly refined communication skills (listening, written and verbal) 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) 
  • Solid knowledge of Google Analytics 
  • Knowledge and prior experience working in HubSpot and Meltwater a plus
