Sault Ste. Marie Police partners with Medicalert Connect Protect to help officers reunite lost, wandering, and vulnerable individuals with their families

MedicAlert Connect Protect gives police officers 24-hour access through their dispatcher to a registered subscriber’s photo, identifying information, past wandering history and other medical information through the MedicAlert identification and associated database.

This information will help officers search more efficiently; increasing the chances those who go missing are reunited with their loved ones sooner. Officers called to an emergency involving a MedicAlert subscriber will have access to vital information which could save a life.

Chief Hugh Stevenson of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service says “Information is crucial for us to help keep the members of our community safe. It is imperative that partnerships such as this exist to assist the police to better understand where some of our most vulnerable people may be going when they leave home.”

“MedicAlert is a vital link between first responders and the community when faster, informed action makes all the difference and we are honoured to assist police services across the country,,” said Françoise Faverjon-Fortin, CEO of MedicAlert Foundation Canada.

MedicAlert will be holding a registration session as part of the 5 th Anniversary celebration for the Neighbourhood Resource Centre in Sault Ste. Marie. A representative will be in attendance and will be able to answer any questions following the launch of MedicAlert Connect Protect.
