Your Donation Matters: Give Back This Holiday Season

Your support means the world to us. As a charity, we rely on our subscribers and generous donors to keep our lifesaving mission going strong. Donations enable us to expand our services, launch impactful programs, and fund vital research projects that will make a difference in the lives of Canadians and their caregivers.

Your gift of $100 could make a profound difference in someone’s life. Someone like William or Maria, a couple who have been together for over 60 years and MedicAlert subscribers for a combined 92 years. William, who has Parkinson’s and dementia, and Maria, who is managing type 2 diabetes, have grown to rely on MedicAlert not just for peace of mind, but for their safety in emergencies.

William recently had a wandering episode due to his dementia, leaving their home late at night in a state of confusion. Thanks to his MedicAlert ID, first responders were able to find him and bring him home safely to Maria. Just months earlier, Maria fell into a diabetic coma after forgetting to eat during a stressful period when William was in the hospital. William was able to remember it was    9-1-1 he needed to call, but his memory loss left him unable to tell the first responders anything about Maria’s diabetes. Only because of MedicAlert’s timely information were paramedics able to administer the right care and save her life.

Sadly, couples like William and Maria, living on fixed incomes, face difficult choices. They struggle to decide whether they can continue their MedicAlert subscriptions. Maria tears up when she thinks that she might have to make that decision soon. It’s heartbreaking to know that those who rely on us the most are the ones who may no longer be able to afford the protection that keeps them safe. Imagine if Maria had had to make the choice to stop her MedicAlert subscription before she ended up in the coma. The story we’re sharing today could have been quite different. That’s why we need your help.

Our IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity in Action) Program supports people like William and Maria, who face financial difficulties or other hardships. Across Canada, there are hundreds of thousands of people who have a wide range of barriers when it comes to accessing health care services. These social determinants of health range from gender and race to homelessness and food insecurity. IDEA is our charitable assistance program that exists to promote health and reduce inequities in accessing our lifesaving service among marginalized and underserved populations. Your gift helps make this possible.

Please consider making a donation of $100 this holiday season. Your generosity will allow us to continue providing protection to those who need it most.

Thank you for your compassion and your support. Together, we can ensure that no one has to face their health challenges alone.
