For Mathew Nuqingaq who hails from Iqaluit, the inspiration for the Qayaq design for MedicAlert came from the Inuit Circumpolar Legend of Kiviuq, the eternal Inuit wanderer. Spirits, giants, cannibals, bears and sea monsters intermingle in Kiviuq's world, creating havoc for him not unlike health conditions that can create challenges for our Members. Kiviuq walks, or travels by qayaq, or may be borne by huge fishes. His supernatural powers allow him to overcome all manner of obstacles in his travels across the north much like MedicAlert and those who wear it can overcome the challenges of a health emergency with the help of First Responders. In Nuquingaq's design the etching on the front of the Qayaq points towards a hopeful future and the etching on the back symbolizes leaving the past behind. Such a wonderful sentiment is this elegant and sophisticated design. This product does not contain any nickel and is suitable for individuals who have metal allergies. Also available with black enamel accents.
