Primary Objectives:

Reporting to the Vice-President, Public Affairs and Programs, the Manager, Education and Knowledge Translation plays a key role in supporting the delivery and management of MedicAlert’s educational programs. This position is responsible for developing content and optimizing the usage of our Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring content is accessible, inclusive, and aligned with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. The role also involves delivering engaging training sessions to diverse audiences, coordinating logistics with external partners, and supporting program evaluation efforts. A strong focus on accessibility, including AODA compliance and translation coordination, ensures that all learners can effectively engage with the material. This position works closely with internal teams and stakeholders to continuously improve the reach and impact of MedicAlert’s education initiatives.

In this role, the Manager, Education and Knowledge Translation is also responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and expansion of educational tools and resources across all MedicAlert programs, including MedicAlert Kids, Safe & Found, and other evolving programs. This role is pivotal in ensuring MedicAlert’s educational initiatives are innovative, inclusive and aligned with the organization's mission to enhance the safety and well-being of vulnerable populations across Canada.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Content Integration and LMS Management: Maintain and update educational materials within MedicAlert’s Learning Management System (LMS) following universal design best practices. Ensure consistent formatting, tagging, and alignment of content across different MedicAlert programs.
  • Tools and Resource Development: Lead the creation and ongoing refinement of educational programs, ensuring they are evidence-based, engaging, and tailored to the unique needs of MedicAlert’s diverse target audiences (e.g., children, caregivers, first responders, educators).
  • Program Integration: Ensure seamless alignment of educational content across all MedicAlert programs, incorporating cross-sector collaboration and interdisciplinary approaches to enhance knowledge dissemination and application.
  • Strategic Outreach: Work closely with members of the MedicAlert team to expand the reach and accessibility of MedicAlert’s educational offerings. This includes developing strategies to engage key stakeholders such as schools, healthcare providers, community organizations, first responders and MedicAlert subscribers.
  • Training Facilitation: Deliver both virtual and in-person training/knowledge translation sessions using a variety of instructional techniques. Adapt instructional methods to suit different learner groups and provide engaging, inclusive learning experiences.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Support outreach and engagement efforts by coordinating training schedules with external partners. Serve as a point of contact for training logistics.
  • Collaboration and Feedback: Work closely with senior program leaders and first responder liaisons to incorporate feedback from participants and partners into training delivery. Enhance improvements based on user experiences and learning outcomes.
  • Program Evaluation Support: Assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting feedback and usage data from the LMS and training sessions. Help prepare reports on training effectiveness and learner engagement.
  • Technology and Innovation: Administer the LMS platform, bring forward issues for resolution, and explore new tools or features to improve user experience. Stay current with trends in digital learning technologies and recommend enhancements to improve learning engagement and platform usability.
  • Accessibility and Inclusive Design: Ensure all LMS content and training modules meet accessibility standards, including compliance with AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act). Coordinate translation services when needed to improve content comprehension and usability for diverse audiences.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as required.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, health education, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in supporting educational program delivery and LMS administration, preferably in a healthcare, public health, or non-profit environment.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating training for diverse audiences, including caregivers, first responders, and community members.
  • Strong understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and accessibility standards, including AODA compliance.
  • Proven track record of developing large-scale educational initiatives and managing their implementation.
  • Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders, including first responders, educators, and community leaders.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and technical skills, with attention to detail in managing digital learning content.

Desired Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with e-learning platforms and authoring tools such as Articulate 360 and LMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with accessibility tools and strategies for accessible content delivery (e.g., screen readers, closed captioning, alt text) and best practices for creating inclusive digital learning environments.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Awareness of the needs of vulnerable populations, including individuals with chronic health conditions or cognitive impairments.
  • Experience coordinating translation services or supporting the adaptation of content for multilingual audiences (bilingualism is preferred).
  • Resourcefulness and initiative in identifying solutions to learning challenges or technical issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including setting goals, managing timelines, and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement or innovation.
