Ageing in place is often framed as a preference — but in reality, it must be intentionally enabled.
In this session, three critical perspectives come together:

Practical technologies — including remote monitoring, smart home tools, and communication supports — are part of the solution.
But technology alone is not enough.
Ageing in the right place depends on a broader system of support that connects individuals, caregivers, and responders with the right information at the right time.
This session will explore what that looks like in practice — and what it means for Canadians today.
Most older Canadians want to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.
But doing so successfully requires more than good intentions.
It requires the right mix of support:

For older adults, caregivers, and families, the question is no longer if ageing in place is possible — but how to do it well.

Dr. Samir Sinha – Geriatrician & Director, Health Policy Research, National Institute on Ageing
Dr. Samir Sinha is one of Canada’s leading voices on ageing and seniors’ care. He will ground the discussion in the realities of ageing at home, including where risks arise and how practical technologies can support safer, more independent living.

Yvonne Ziomecki-Fisher – Chief Customer, Brand and Advice Officer, HomeEquity Bank
Yvonne brings deep insight into the financial realities of ageing in place. She will share perspectives from HomeEquity Bank’s research on how Canadians 55+ are adopting technology and planning for safe, independent living at home.
This session is shaped by the real concerns of Canadians.
When you register, you’ll have the opportunity to submit a question for our panelists. These questions will be reviewed and synthesized into key themes that guide the discussion.
