60 Years of Saving Lives: Peter's Story
There are some MedicAlert team members who have seen it all. Peter is one of them. This year Peter is celebrating 15 years at MedicAlert – celebrating with an award for innovation and process improvement. Here’s how Peter has, and continues, to make an incredible impact for his co-workers as well as MedicAlert’s subscribers and partners.
Prior to arriving at MedicAlert, Peter had been downsized from Celestica – a company working in design, manufacturing, hardware platform and supply chain solutions. Rather than being discouraged, Peter took the opportunity to reflect on what he wanted to do with his life.
“I knew I wanted to help people,” he recalls. “I just didn’t know how I was going to do it. Then I saw a want ad for distribution and fulfillment at MedicAlert.” [...]

“It’s all in a day’s work,” he says. “At any given point in time we can be dealing with a protest, a robbery, a disturbance of some kind, or someone who has wandered away from home.” [...]

1981 was also the year Leslie had a severe reaction to a medication she’d been prescribed for an ear infection. She had a seizure and was left temporarily blind in the hospital for a week.
While it wasn’t Leslie’s first major health challenge, it
was
the year she became a MedicAlert subscriber. [...]

60 Years of Partnerships: Acting Superintendent Rob Bernier’s Story
Following his high school experience, Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Acting Superintendent Rob Bernier, a Montreal native, thought he was bound for a career in the sciences when he started Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel, better known as CEGEP. But a series of experiences in his personal life left him wondering if perhaps he was meant for a different calling.
Fast forward nearly 30 years, and not only is Rob a 27 year policing veteran and father of two, but he has also committed his entire career working with the OPS – the last four years being a police champion for MedicAlert’s Connect Protect Program. [...]
